In fact, there is currently a movie on Netflix about this very phenomenon with LoL being the game that is played. Teams from all around the world compete against each other in front large crowds. League of Legends commands a top spot in this ever growing area of gaming. The biggest advantage for LoL over Minecraft is in the competitive arena. Instead of buying stuff, you make it largely yourself since the game is a giant sandbox. Minecraft has a completely different business model because you buy it and pay no fees or buy anything from a shop. The game also has sales to drive demand for the card even higher. We have done this for years and can speak from experience that demand has never been higher for the card. GameOgre knows quite a bit about that first hand as we offer a $10 League of Legends card to ongoing community members in our Game Shop. Instead of being bought, LoL offers skins and heroes for purchase in the item shop. League of Legends has been more about the core game and competitions aka eSports. Of the two, Minecraft has expanded the most as a franchise especially after being bought by Microsoft. Each game dominates its respective genre with an iron fist. Both are also the center of countless videos and livestreams. Both can be counted among the most popular games in the entire world. The first match in the semi-finals of the tournament pits two titans against each other. I forgot some stuff, and I will probably add it later. The world’s best sandbox game versus the best MOBA in the world. Lastly, minecraft also allows players to interact with the terrain, creating outplay potential on par with what people think fortnite has (fortnite is inspired by a combination of the gamemodes "uhc" and "skywars" in minecraft btw).

There are also other factors you have to account for, like how much acceleration your opponent already has). However, minecraft wins in this category because although the ramping of or momentum is less gradual and exponential than valorant and csgo's, the player collision and melee interactions (like knockback and velocity manipulation) makes minecraft's skill ceiling a lot higher (especially since you have to time when your movement should reach max velocity in relation to the distance your opponent is from you. Abilities let agents do complex movements also add to this. Momentum and counterstrafing (and spray control) add to valorant's mechanics. As three dimensional games however, much of csgo and valorant's mechanics also come from movement and terrain. The level of mouse precision required in minecraft is by no means easy, the skill ceiling in csgo and valorant is still way higher. In terms of aim, csgo and valorant obviously win. Valorant adds a little more skill and mechanics to their game with abilities (and I suppose more mechanics, hotkeys, and timings). Next, and games like csgo and valorant, it becomes hard to measure the skill ceiling of aiming and reaction time. However, I will grant that hotkeys are easier in minecraft than these two games. Minecraft has some slack here because players have to constantly use the wasd keys to move whilst also using hotkeys with the same hand, so hotkeying isn't that easy. In contrast, starcraft has like 50 hotkeys, and league has about 20. In terms of hotkeys, minecraft only has 9 hotbar slots, and at most times you really only need 4 hotkeys. While starcraft definitely has harder hotkeys, league has harder timing, and both have intense camera control, the precision of velocity and elevation in minecraft requires incredibly accurate and well-timed button presses (and precision on exactly how long a key is held), making timing practically on par with these two. We're not gonna count strategy in this, because this is purely about mechanics (or "skill ceiling").

(I only listed popular and well-known games because I haven't heard of some of the other games you guys might know about please feel free to list them).įor types of games like starcraft and league of legends, hotkeys, timing, strategy, and mouse accuracy are probably their strongest points. Some of the main competitors that I'm thinking of are Valorant, League of Legends, Starcraft, Hollow Knight, and Elden Ring. I'll start with basic arguments: first of all, it's a three-dimensional game, giving it an edge in complexity over two dimensional games.
